In her work as a documentary photographer and filmmaker, Sybilla Patrizia has covered social, cultural and political topics such as the struggles of the Tibetan Diaspora in Northern India, Hong Kong’s Umbrella Revolution, the stigmatization of menstruation in Japanese society and the LGBTQ+ community in Tokyo.

Sybilla is currently developing a new, feature-length documentary entitled PLASTIC LOVE!, which deals with Japan’s obsessive addiction to plastic and which was featured in the HERMÈS Social Good Book 2019. In 2021, Sybilla also filmed the Japan section of "Forced To Be Sterilised," a BBC documentary focusing on forced and involuntary sterilisations in Japan and South Africa.

Her work has been published by the BBCVICE , AnOther Magazine, Financial Times and Amazon Prime Japan, and has been exhibited in Germany, Austria, the USA, Japan and the UK.

Sybilla is also the founder of WHEN IN TOKYO -  a dedicated online guide to Tokyo’s best art, design and architecture in English.
