In her work as a documentary photographer, Sybilla has covered social and political topics such as the struggles of the Tibetan Diaspora in Northern India and the 2014 Umbrella Revolution in Hong Kong. In her 2017 project “Strawberry Jam,” she explores the fetishisation of and obsession with youthfulness and cuteness in contemporary Japanese mainstream culture through the observation of gender roles in Japanese media, fashion and society. The project has been published by VICE Germany as well as TW Magazine and was exhibited at the Austrian Embassy in Tokyo in 2018.

In 2011, Sybilla was awarded a gold medal at the “Austrian Youth Championship of Photography” and was included in the 2016 “Smashbox Emerging Photographers Showcase” in London, hosted by photographer Davis Factor. Her work has been published and exhibited in Germany, Austria, the USA, Japan and the UK.
